Grandma's Best-Ever Chocolate Cake Print E-mail
My mother replaced our family favorite chocolate cake recipe with this one.
Have the ingredients on hand, you'll be asked to make this cake often.
 
Frost your cake with a thick layer of buttercream icing or make fresh
whipped cream and sprinkle with cocoa powder. Enjoy!

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
2/3 cup oil
1 cup cocoa
dash salt
2 cups boiling water


Blend all ingredients in a large bowl, then beat 2 minutes at medium speed. 

Bake in a 13 x 9 pan at 350 degrees for 30 – 40 minutes. 

Airport Frosting

  1 stick of Crisco (7 oz.)
  1 stick of butter
  1/4 tsp. salt
  1/2 tbsp. vanilla


Mix with mixer scraping bowl after two minutes. 

Add:


  5 1/2 cups confectioner’s sugar
  3 tbsp. milk
  1 large egg white (1 ¼ oz)


Beat for 5 minutes. 

Scrape bowl and beat for 1-2 minutes more. 

Leftover frosting can be frozen up to 3 months.
